Swiss Made Diamonds from the Mouta Valley
The solution to blood diamonds and the overexploitation of important resources? Artificially produced diamonds from the lab. Even better if they are produced fairly and sustainably - like the Swiss start-up Loev Jewelry.

WinterTogether with the technology company Ammil GmbH, they produce diamonds in Muotathal (Canton Schwyz) under environmentally friendly conditions. 90% of the energy comes from the Muota river, the rest from solar and biomass energy.
But how is such a laboratory diamond created? Quite simply: a tiny diamond sliver is flooded with carbon-rich gas in a vacuum chamber and heated to 900 to 1200 degrees. “This creates a plasma cloud that crystallizes the carbon,” explains co-founder Niels Schaefer. It takes two to four weeks to “grow” a diamond of one carat - i.e. 0.2 grams. The price? Around 5,000 francs per carat.
Sounds fair, doesn't it? Luxury for everyone, but with a clear conscience.
